MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENTS

Most motorcycle owners enjoy riding their motorcycles.  Being a motorcyclist can also be extremely dangerous.  More than 80% of all reported motorcycle accidents result in either injury or death.  On average, approximately 2,000 motorcyclists are killed and more than 50,000 are injured in traffic crashes every year.  A motorcyclist is about 16 times more likely than a person in a passenger car to die in a motor vehicle crash and about 3 times more likely to be injured.

Despite these alarming statistics, motorcyclists still do not get the respect they deserve and often experience bias from others on the road that can result in these accidents and injuries. 

Several factors can contribute to a motorcycle crash, including operator inexperience and the operator’s failure to appreciate the limitations of the motorcycle.  Unfortunately, even if you practice motorcycle safety, you may be involved in an accident because of the negligence of another driver.
